Executive Producer/Sr. Manager, Content

Job Summary

As the Executive Producer, your role is to oversee and deliver the production of content and ensure that the tone and voice of the content meets the highest standards of journalism. You will be directly supported by the President and lead a team of dedicated freelance producers and writers to manage in-house production, third-party relationships, and the development and deployment of all video, written and image-based content. You will also be responsible for setting day-to-day deadlines and expectations while growing and engaging the Canadian Premier League’s soccer audience across all platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and day-to-day management of content
  • Create and pitch content briefs to support editorial and partnerships requirements
  • Source, secure, manage and oversee all writers, freelancers and production teams
  • Curate complete story packages including text, photos, video, graphics, embeds
  • Closely follow producer assignments and create regular reports on viewership and engagement metrics
  • Accountable for all content on an ongoing basis, regardless of platform, ensuring that brand and partner standards are adhered to
  • Utilize live analytics to respond to traffic drivers, identify traffic holes and opportunities for swift response
  • Participate in the creative development, technical implementation and curation of digital content for websites and related digital platforms
  • Develop budgets and schedules for new and existing projects


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record in producing successful content
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of budgeting and scheduling
  • Experience on video shoots and handling talent and freelancers
  • Able to communicate clearly and be a champion of digital strategies
  • Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, divert from the plan and work under pressure
  • Ability to take market research and turn into insights and plans
  • Hands-on experience with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, etc.
  • Leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working in sports media
  • Familiarity with content management systems, analytics, non-linear video editing and basic HTML

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as writer or content producer
  • At least 3+ years experience working in a fast-paced newsroom
  • At least 1 year management/leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism is required
